Empty Nest

Earlier this spring, nest building commenced near our front door, where the gutter downspout meets the satellite cable. We knocked it down in the early stages, but mom & dad persisted, and soon we had a nest with eggs and nervous parents-to-be. So we stopped using the front door, and came and went through the garage instead. When we left town for our trip to St. Louis, they were still in the egg-sitting stage. One week later, we came home on Wednesday to four chicks overflowing the tiny nest. Today, they are all gone, so we assume they have learned to fly. (We're pretty sure these are Eastern Phoebes.)
