Our gym membership expired last week. We (well, me mostly) were getting frustrated with the management and lack of maintenance and general attention at the old gym, so back in September we had signed up for a new gym that is opening in November. That left us with a few weeks of no gym. We investigated potential free trials at other places in town to bridge the gap, but nothing was very appealing due to various restrictions. My next bright idea was community education classes. And that's how we wound up at Cardio Kick-Boxing last night, at the Martial Arts Center. It was actually quite fun, and a nice change of pace from weight lifting and treadmills. Mike and I were paired up, and got to punch and kick each other repeatedly (with plenty of padding, of course), and I'm sore enough today to know I got a good workout.
(The Martial Arts Center was packed with little kids when we got there. Watching them while waiting for our class to start, it was clear that they were having a great time. Looks like a fun way for kids to work off excess energy.)
