I've had better days

What a weekend! It started out with an allergic reaction and hives of unknown origin. I spent Saturday morning at the walk-in clinic, and came home with over-the-counter treatments. The allergy could have been caused by "literally a million things" they said, but my best guess is hand lotion, since that's where the hives were worst.

Relaxing back at home in the afternoon, we experienced an electrical brown-out. After a couple hours of that, the power finally went off completely. As we were discussing where we should go for dinner, since we obviously couldn't cook anything, the lights came back full strength.

But the home theater system didn't come back at all. With a DVD from the library stuck inside.

So, we made dinner, and then the water ran out while washing the dishes. No pressure in the tank; no response to flipping the breaker off and back on. A call to the well company, and thankfully they reminded me of one more reset button outside. And it worked! Our luck was not all bad after all.

This morning, the hives were better, we still had water, and the home theater system had recovered after a night unplugged. It was raining, but we actually needed it. And I did manage to finally put away all of those Christmas card photos that had been sitting on my desk - lack of power is good for something, I guess.

Makes us realize how much we depend on electricity and other comforts. Guess we wouldn't make very good pioneers! glad everything got back to normal and nothing was permanently damaged.
