Say Good-Bye to Dave's Esprit

Remember the yellow Esprit from the early days of the blog? After a quiet winter in our barn, Dave finally sold it, and a transporter came today to take it to the new owner, in Spain. Yes, Spain. According to the buyer, left-hand drive Esprits are rare in Europe, and I suppose the relative weakness of the dollar right now makes it easier to pay for the trans-Atlantic shipping.

Even though Dave has another Lotus that he's working on, and another project car waiting in the wings, I think he was sad to see this one go. He spent a lot of hours on the restoration, and everyone except his wife really loved the lemon yellow color. Mike was sad too, because he had thought he might buy it if it didn't sell. (But then, Mike says that about almost every Lotus he sees. He wants to give a home to all of them.) Yesterday's snow made it more exciting to get the car from the barn out to the county road, because the transporter wouldn't be able to come down our gravel driveway. We're pretty sure it's the first, and probably also the last, time this car will ever be driven in snow.
